I've been living the ups and downs of weight, but whenever I am watching my weight I start to lose it steadily and constantly. And I've noticed something that I think it is important to note, especially for those who are thinking about starting losing it too: Your body start to feel better with the process of losing weight, not just when you hit your goal.
It is probably due to a confluence of reasons. Eating healthier and being more active are probably the most important factors. Even though your weight, your mobility and self esteem will take a long time to improve (months or a year, for example), you will see some quite immediate improvements. So don't miss on those.
One example, heart rate. I don't know if it was caffeine from soft drinks, or sugar, or just my body having to process that much food. But my heart was always very accelerated. My rest rate was 90bpm. Whenever I walked just a little bit, it jumped to 130 bpm. I would constantly get notifications from my watch saying that I had hit 120bpm during a period of rest.
Today, just 15 days after I started losing weight, my average resting heart rate for these last 4 days is 60 (normal for my age and gender).
And this is just a measurable example. I am still very far from my goal, so I still have a lot of problems that I associate with my size. They will probably go away if I manage a healthier lifestyle for a longer period of time. But I am already seeing that the entire process is worth continuing.
And how about you? Have you see some improvement that was noticeable days or weeks after you started?
