I had some questions about losing weight and diet?

I'm someone who when I was younger was actually quite fit. But in recent years I've gone off the wagon so to speak and covid lockdown didn't help. I also have a weakness for junk food and do think I do some emotional eating which I'm working on. For me to have motivation to do something I need to have a reason to do something and have serious consequences if I don't do it. Like studying or working. How do I correct my mentality regarding weightloss and sticking to it.
