Background Info: 5'9½ | 220.1 LBS | 16y/o MALE
So some quick background info, I was an extremely active kid, played high ranking hockey and soccer and was extremely skinny. I quit hockey in 2016 and quit soccer in 2018. For basically my entire life before 2017 I was considered underweight by a BMI calculator and had a BMI between 17.8 - 19.5. Since then I've started to increase in weight and Covid was the real cherry on top.
I had gained some weight in 2019 and decided to go on a doctor supervised diet to lose some of it (I was 162.5 lbs 5'2 at the time) before a wedding in the summer. I had successfully lost 10LBS in around 2 months barely following the diet. After that I hit highschool and my parents forced me to go to a school where I knew NO ONE. I was alone all the time (compared to having tons of friends in middle school) and thus used eating and video games to make me feel happy. Obviously this was an awful decision and by March of 2020 I was 5'4 182LBS.
Next thing I knew school was cancelled and I had EVERY single day to play video games and sit inside, and since we had no real idea the effect that the Pandemic had my parents barely let me go out on bike rides and whatnot during the summer. So I spent every single day inside playing video games and eating TERRIBLY (I literally remember going downstairs at 3am on multiple occasions to get plates full of bacon to eat). By the time August came around I had only somehow gained 8 pounds. Now August would be my downfall, because I got a job at the only place I could... a goddamned candy-store. I started working there and with access to money and tons of time (I was doing virtual school), I was ordering uber eats almost every day and getting candy and fast food during my shifts. I should also mention tons of outside stress causers in my life that I cannot really get into. I had never really realized that I had gained weight until the Spring of 2021, around May.
I stepped on the scale and had seen a number that I would have never imagined, 242.2 pounds. I started crying and realized I had to make a change. I started my own "rice-cake" diet and would intermittent fast and eat between noon-8pm and eat a ton of rice-cakes as food. This lost me 5 pounds in the month alone but I was super bad at keeping myself motivated and started getting snacks at work again. Finally at the start of June my mom recommended I go on the doctor supervised diet again, which I did. It initially started well however I was too scared to get my bloodwork done and stopped for 3 weeks, I restarted in August and ended up getting to 210 LBS. In September I started in-person school in a new highschool with tons of friends. I sadly, without realizing it, started to eat bad again and gained back 10 pounds.
Now, in December of 2021, all of my friends have girlfriends, and I know that if I was my ideal weight I would be so good looking. This is motivation for me. Now I want to start dieting in January of 2022, and do an extremely strict, 90 day diet from JAN 1st to APR 1st. I know I wont last any longer doing some BS diet. Another huge thing is me getting my drivers license in January, so I was thinking about getting a gym membership with 2 of my friends (they both want to bulk right now) and we could go every day.
I think I want to do around 1,500 - 1,700 calories on workout days and 1,300 on rest days. Is there anyone that has gone from the same height and starting weight as me and reached their goal weight in a quick amount of time have any advice, also how are you doing in terms of post diet...
I also want to go to the grocery store and start meal prepping some simple low calorie meals on Sundays for the week, would need advice on that also.
Thanks for reading <3
