"I'm not on a diet"

There was some question about my lunch order today when the receptionists were ordering for our meeting. The menu listed grilled salmon served on a toasted Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and chips. I guess when they called to order it they were asked if I wanted it on the sandwich receptionist A said that I probably did want it on the sandwich, receptionist B said I probably didn't want it on the sandwich because I was "on that diet now".

She came back to ask and the coworker near me looked at me and said "you're on a diet?" "No, I'm not," I replied. Receptionist B overheard me tell another coworker that I was cutting back my soda intake. Which I am. Receptionist B told me my lunch looked very "healthy" one day, because I brought soup rather than ordering out because I'm limiting how much I order out.

I'm cutting back soda to limit my caffeine and help my sleep schedule. It's also got the added benefit of making me drink more water and cutting out some unnecessary calories. I'm limiting my takeout because I'm moving and ordering out is expensive. It has the added benefit of getting me to cook more (thanks HelloFresh for the soup recipe!).

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't trying to lose weight again. I've been on this sub before. I see some of the same usernames from before. But this time, I'm not "on a diet." Because diets don't work. Lifestyle changes do and this time I'm taking them one step at a time. I need to make better choices for a lot of things, some of those things just include eating better food and drinking less sugar.

But even if I was on a diet? If I tell you I want salmon on a roll for lunch, just order me my sandwich. I probably planned for it. And maybe, also just don't assume things about people. Yeah I'm fat, yes I want to lose weight, and no it's not anyone else's business.
