How much do your daily calories vary on a diet?

Mainly just curious what everyone else does. Do you try to maintain consistency from day to day (ex eating 1700 calories daily)? Do you eat more on days that you workout? Do you just focus on the weekly average? How close to your weekly goal do you like that weekly average to be?

Personally, I aim for the same amount every day because I’m trying to get into a routine. And I don’t want to feel pressured to eat less on Day 7 to get my week to average out to the correct number. But I also know that people who aren’t dieting have daily fluctuations in their food intake.

I know there’s many different approaches. What’s yours? And if you’ve tried multiple, what worked / didn’t work and why?
