Was it worth it to go from average to thin?

I'm curious for those whose journey was as such, did you notice a difference? How did your life change? What motivated you?

I always see people who went from obese to healthy and how their life changes; they have more energy, they feel better about themselves, it's easier to shop for clothing, and their overall health improves as their risk for disease goes down.

But if you're already average, I just wonder what that journey is like. I wonder if it's harder to stay motivated when there isn't a risk of early morbidity or social isolation or... whatever it may be.

I don't mean people who are competitive bodybuilders or athletes or anything like that either, where there might be an obvious advantage to being a certain weight or having a certain physique. I just mean, an average person who became extra fit.
