To macro or not to macro

Long story short I don’t know how much I weigh now but last I checked I was 189 that was in October. I’m trying to get back on track and I’m wondering if it’s worth counting my macros and weighing everything I eat like I did before or if I should just count what I can.

I lift weights at the gym but I’m worried I’m not getting enough protein. I mostly eat fruits throughout the day (because that’s what I like) and then have fish or beans with rice or veggies (I’m pescatarian.) It works out that I’m eating anywhere from 1,200 to 2000 calories a day. Ex Mon. 1,200 Tues. 1,500 Wed. 1,800 Thur. 1,500 Fri. 1,000 Sat. 1,000 Sunday 2,000

I don’t find myself feeling hungry and I don’t weigh myself so I don’t know if I’m losing or gaining. I do know that I’m not having terrible binges anymore at least not for the last 2 months.

The reason why I’m worried about macros now though is ultimately my goal is to lose weight and keep as much muscle as possible. But I also don’t want to slip back into my disordered eating habits. Problem is everywhere online says the only way to achieve my goals is by tracking macros.

What should I do?
