Today I had a reality check on how the clothing industry has coddled our feelings in regards to sizing.

So I’ve been moving into my partners space and as a result we’ve been doing a ton of downsizing to accommodate both of our stuff. I have far too many items of clothing, especially stuff I don’t wear. So I was slowly going through the piles of clothes when I came across these cute brown pants i had bought back when I was 18 (I’m now 30). They were still in near perfect condition, and wow, another pair of dark blue straight cigarette leg pants too! Plus they were both in my current size. So I went to put them on and it was impossible for me to get them past my thighs. I was stunned. They were excruciatingly tight. All of my pants, even the ones from this exact retailer, are in this size. It was a major reality check as I have tried things on in stores before and been shocked when I needed to downsize and somewhat suspect that the retailer had adjusted its sizing charts to appease our egos.
