Weight lifting / bodybuilding for morbidly obese people

I was wondering whether weight lifting or body building would be a better option for some one morbidly obese, does anyone have experience in that and does it help with having less loose skin in general. I am morbidly obese and i worry about loose skin alot, do you think just straight going into resistance training is the better option compared to cardio or any other form of exercise. If any one has any experience with this please could you share it. I just want to be healthy and id rather lose weight slowly than rapidly so the skin can rebound so thats why im interested if anyone would go the body building weight lifting route than the typical exercises
