Lost my first 8 pounds! I'm really excited!

Heyyyy so all my life I've been a bit 'bigger' while simultaneously being a 4'11'' woman. It seriously sucks. For the past few years, I've suddenly jumped into spurts of wanting to lose weight. I'll start counting calories, exercising, take measurements etc. And then my period starts and I quit. This used to happen about once every few months. Anyways, I just kept gaining weight. Finally, during the pandemic, I decided to finally lose it. Yeah, that didn't happen. Over the last one and a half years, I actually put on an entire 15 pounds.

So with things starting back up, in July I started trying on some of my 'going out' clothes again and had a breakdown when I realized I no longer fit in any. I have tons of stretch marks and I felt devastated that I let myself lose all goals. I think this really propelled me to finally start losing weight.

Naturally, as I started having to go back to work etc and lost some stress, I lost some weight. I especially noticed this on my cheeks/chin etc. I started biking every morning, cutting carbs, actually cooking and grocery shopping with goals, and it became routine after a few months.

So now, November began and I decided to check my measurements. Over the last year, I stopped checking my weight because of how upset it made me, but I finally got the courage and checked. And YES! 8 pounds gone! 2 inches off my waist! 1 inch off my butt! I pulled out those clothes from before and they don't seem as tight!

I guess these results aren't much, but honestly, after never being able to lose weight my entire life, I feel like I'm in heaven right now.

So here's what I've been doing, if this helps any one trying to make some initial baby steps:

A ton of 'moving.' My butt was always a problem for me, and being a short woman, it sucks to have your behind stick out in anything you wear. I started setting timers on my phone when I work and keeping my phone in a different room. Every 15 minutes, it goes off, and I take a short walk to the room to turn it off. And in this process, I end up maybe going and getting some water/fresh air/etc. I really think this has helped me destress as well as move my limbs more.

I quit with the home workout 'challenges.' I was never able to finish a challenge in the past and this always made me demotivated after around 2 days. This might be weird, but a coworker told me to try playing music at home. I like to move when I hear music, so that's what happened.

I've been counting my steps as well. Each week, I keep incremental goals, and I've surpassed 10K steps a day now. Its become so important to me that I actually just start pacing around when I realize I'm a bit behind my goal. Idk if this helps, but I do go on more frequent walks and runs with this.

As for diet, I don't think I'm too much of a 'healthy eater' but I have definitely improved my diet from the past year. I used to eat a ton of frozen stuff, but now that I'm going out more, I've also been buying actual groceries and have more motivation to cook. It has definitely helped.

So yup! Super happy with my progress and I hope it continues!
