I’m losing weight for the first time in years

For a bit of context, I’m 19 afab, 5’2 and currently 137lbs. I didn’t actually gain much during covid because I started exercising, but I peaked at around 150 over the summer because I was in Korea and because my depression got bad again. Some of it burned off over the months (I do a martial art during the school year) but I just decided in October that I want to burn it all off. I used to have a very unhealthy relationship with food and my weight fluctuated a lot in high school because of mental illness/medications but I thought I was well enough to try again. I quickly realized that a lot of my eating was out of habit. I’m able to have one or two small portions a day without feeling hungry, but I was eating bigger portions, lots of takeout, and sometimes snacks before I started cutting calories. I’ve also found that cravings go away after a while (it helps that I’m already indecisive about what I want to eat), so I try to study or work to distract myself. Another big motivator so far is money: I’m a broke college student, so it helps that I’m spending a lot less on food and snacks. I usually only eat fruit or granola bars as snacks because they’re filling. I also bought myself some books with the money I saved :) I’ve had IBS-C and sleep apnea symptoms since middle school (though I was only diagnosed this year), so I was already at a disadvantage, but I’m really happy that I’ve started to lose weight despite them. I know my circumstances are very specific and it’s not so simple for most people, but I hope this motivates someone to keep trying. I know it can get harder the more you lose, but slow progress is still progress!
