Calorie counting

Hi all!

Some background- I was always an athlete as a child through high school & sat around 115-120 lbs through my teen years (I’m a 24 yo female 5’8”). When I graduated I joined the army & put on about 20 lbs of muscle. I think 140lbs looked just right on my frame- toned but with more of a figure than I ever had before.

Long story short, I got injured, honorably discharged, went to working graveyard shifts at a casino (11pm-7am) for years & developed insulin resistant PCOS & type 2, as well as hypothyroidism. I have always had symptoms of PCOS, however my blood sugar was always perfect on labs & my endo now firmly believes switching to an overnight desk job has contributed to my drastic turn of health.

In a year I went from 160lbs to 200 lbs. I went to the doc to run labs to find out what was going on, & this is when I got my diagnosis for the above. I went keto under the advisement of my endo, lost 30 lbs , somewhat regulated my cycle & then got pregnant with my miracle baby who is now almost 7 months old. I am now sitting at 180lbs (down 30 from pregnancy) & I would really like to lose 40 lbs by the end of September.

I have started doing home work outs and going for walks when the weather is nice but I feel horribly out of shape. I am also avoiding all dairy since my son has an allergy, which has translated to me eating more carbs than I used to by a long shot.

Have any of you lose a considerable amount of weight without* calorie counting? I have a history of getting obsessive and disordered with stuff like that in the past and if I can avoid strict number tracking that would be the best go for me. Any advice, tips & suggestions welcome & appreciated.
