I'm a healthy weight, 5'11 138lbs male, 26 years old, lost 107 pounds. I've maintained for a few months. My body fat is quite low and I put a lot of effort into keeping it like that. I am fit and run daily. The only people that think I'm too skinny are the people that knew me when I was fat, to everyone else I look normal.
I went to the doctor because I am tired often, dizzy and my hair is falling out and have heart palpitations sometimes (but I always had them due to anxiety). I had blood tests done and I am low in some vitamins. But instead of just giving me the vitamins my doctor is telling me to increase calories and gain weight as well? She said that people who used to be obese often become unhealthy when they are on the lower end of bmi.
I think she's wrong in my case, I don't think I am unhealthy aside from low vitamins. I don't think she fully understands what a "gain weight" suggestion means for someone who used to be obese. If I didn't have the self control I do then I could just take that suggestion and gain all the weight back in two months, and be considerably more unhealthy! But obviously I'm not going to do that.
Should I get a second opinion?
