Need advice on quiting sugar and cravings

Since the pandemic began i started binging sweets and junk food like a maniac due to stress. I was already in need of loosing weight, but ended up gaining 15kg in 1.5 years. I have a long history of going on restrictive diets, but always bouncing back. A few years ago i had managed to quit sugar for about a year, only to drink some soda by mistake and throwing it all away by making excuses ("nothing happened", "i deserve to eat that... its been a year" and so on).

Today marks 21 days since i quit added sugar and any kind of sweets due to a rare surge of motivation 😁

Now... I am afraid to eat any sweets because it might throw me off and will end up binging every day again. But my goal is to be able to enjoy a cookie once every 2 weeks, if i am really craving, and not eating anything sweet just because i can.

I hope I wasn't confusing and I appreciate every piece of advice or story that you guys might have regarding this situation. Also, I am curios as how do you tell real cravings apart from toxic habits (e.g. "i saw a cookie and my mind just wants it")

Thank you!
