Can’t afford to workout

Hey all. I’m a full-time college student and caretaker for an aging family member so needless to say I’m broke as hell. I had more regular income between my most recent semesters and I was able to afford protein powder, fish, lots of veggies, etc. and gained a bunch of muscle and lost a significant amount of fat. Two months of not being able to afford much food beyond what I need to keep my mom healthy, and not having food that I can safely eat (I have ibs and need to keep a low fodmap diet which rules out most cheap healthy things like beans) ((I stopped working out for the most part as I didn’t want to collapse from low blood sugar, energy deficient, etc. it’s happened before) and I’ve gained about 15 pounds. Long story short, any advice on how to keep weight off when you can’t maintain a reliable diet/how safe is it to exercise on less than 2000 calories as a man ? Also worth it to mention I was losing weight and gaining muscle on 2500cal of healthy food and sobriety but gaining weight on 1500-1800 cal of shit food and one night of binge drinking. I don’t use Reddit like ever, so sorry if this is incomprehensible

Edit: I can’t afford to keep a regular diet, whether healthy or unhealthy I have large fluctuations in my caloric intake and protein intake due to unstable income. This post isn’t about not being able to afford a gym, I have my campus gym and (normally) do mostly bodyweight or work with things like sandbags from lowes+outdoor cycling and hiking.

Thanks for the input to all who commented as well! It’s been super helpful
