Restarting off a long overdue goal. Be under 100kgs...

Hi All. Was once an active member back in the day, but lost momentum and life got in the way.
The realisation was slowly coming at me that i got too lax with my health, but after moving into a new house, and setting up a scale again, i maxxed the bas***d out. goes up to 130kgs, went passed that and into the 10s before it hit a flipping wall.

I honestly have no idea if im 145kgs, 150kgs, 160kgs...
Im guessing 145 as the momentum of rhe needle wasnt too bad going into the nether realm...

So here is my question for the group.

What are the things i need to make sure i start off correctly with? What things do you wish you did day0, instead of day 30 etc?

Im thinking a photo journal, as my mental image of my body shape is often wrong (felt fat when i was closer to lean than actual fat in the past).

Im trying to cold-turkey out soft drink that i have been an absolute fiend with for the last few months too. Have had days where 3-4 litres of pepsi dissapearing was not out of the question. Any reccomendations of beverage replacements? Currently my go to will be iced water with a splash of lemon juice...
