So recently i got into running after losing like 70 or 80 lbs. I'm f, 35, 5'4 currently at 160 lbs. I really upped my mileage in the past couple of weeks, burning a lot more calories obviously. Now I didn't adjust my calorie goal accordingly. Usually I go for 1500 - 1600 calories a day. Now these last few days I've been feeling weak and sluggish and so hungry! Never felt hungry in the past year on this deficit.
Now my question is: how do i know how much more calories are "safe" to eat, while keeping a small deficit, when exercise calories given by smart watches are notoriously overestimated?
If I run a 5k, my garmin will say I burned 400-500 calories. That would be like an entire extra meal. I've read a lot about properly fueling the body for workouts lately, but it never says anything about calories there. Just that it should be mainly carbs and protein. And i'm not ready to let my crutch of counting calories go yet. Likely i never will. Eating without counting always makes me go overboard.
