(25F 5’3” starting weight 195/ current 186)
I had joined this sub years ago and made good progress back then. Unfortunately in the past 3 years I successfully undid any and all progress I ever made, reaching my highest weight and worst physical condition. Like many people when the world shut down I started work and school from home spending nearly my whole day sedentary and eating “easy” (read fatty salty and sugary) foods.
Around the holidays I really took a hard look at my current state, realizing that at 25 I was getting winded on the shortest of walks and unable to sit up straight. After the New Year I decided it’s time I get back in control. I didn’t want to make a “resolution”, as in the past if I didn’t hit that specific goal it’s easy for me to get defeated and just fall off again. Instead I just set a New Years Theme of making any small daily improvement to my lifestyle.
Every day I’ve been going out for short walks and doing low impact Yoga or mat Pilates. When I started I could barely manage a 1 mile walk, now I’m getting up to 4 miles without feeling winded! With Yoga and Pilates I was completely unable to even sit up from laying on my back without using my arms to push me up. Today I was able to get all the way from laying on my back to standing without using any leverage! I’m already physically feeling much better and have so much more energy and have seen some small scale victories as well.
I still have a long journey ahead of me to get to a healthy weight and lifestyle. But already seeing this type of physical improvement has me confident in the direction I’m headed!
