I've tried losing weight numerous times throughout high school/college, but I don't think I had the energy for it since I was stressed out already with academics. Calorie counting was the last thing I needed on top of everything else I was juggling. I did try to lose weight in 2020 and 2021 after I graduated but for some reason it didn't stick. By 2021, I was up 25-30 pounds from my high school senior year weight in 2016.
I officially started (for the millionth time) on November 1 2021, and I'm pretty happy to report that today I weighed in at 168.7 pounds! In early 2021 I was at 186 lbs LOL.... I haven't been at this weight since 2016 or 2017! This is absolutely nuts.. of course I had to let myself celebrate by testing my new countertop convection oven (made korean green onion pancake, taiwanese green onion pancake, roasted korean sweet potato, and red bean filled taiyaki).
I strongly believe that, barring any sort of medical issues (such as abnormal thyroid levels), it is possible for anyone who wishes to lose weight to do so. The past 2-3 months have shown me the importance of consistency, setting good habits, and not losing sight of the ultimate goal(s). One year ago I thought that I was going to be 185 lbs forever. Also I always remembered that food = happiness, so I did not take out any food that I loved a lot. Of course, if someone is at risk for prediabetes like I am, modifications need to be made, such as low-carb bread most days. But that does not mean I cannot eat rice anymore, or the aforementioned green onion pancakes and taiyaki.
I am thankful to this subreddit for always being a source of encouragement and help.
