How to set your resolutions

So it's the year of setting new years resolutions and figured I would post here for people that need help or want to know how to stay on track.

TLDR: 4 step guide on setting resolutions and keeping up with them

1.) Set your intentions:. What do you want to get done this year. In the context of this subreddit you want to lose weight well here are the questions you should ask. "What do I want to weigh at the end of the year." "What would be a realistic number based on 1/lb a week (no more than 52lbs)?" "will I consider this year a failure if I don't hit that number?" Weight loss is usually a multi year journey for a lot of us and saying that you wanna go from 300lbs to 150lbs in a year is not only unrealistic but potentially dangerous. I know people have done it but if you look at there genetics they are freaks. (Looking at you David Goggins). Also as an aside try having a weight goal, a physical goal, a mental goal, and a social goal. Or at least one other goal other than weight loss. It gives you other things to focus on that are different from weight loss. For example my goals are;. To become an intermediate class lifter (having a SBD total of over 1klbs) , to weigh less than 220lbs (currently weight 233 lbs), to take care of my face and body more (have developed keratis pilaris and acne from working out), read 100 blinkst books (essentially book summaries of non fiction books), read 25 full length books (fiction or non fiction), maintain dean's list in my last year of school.

2.) Write your intentions: write them somewhere that you can see them. I have a white board where I write my to-do list for school and life so it works out. Make sure to write them specific enough that you know the goals. But not so specific that they become overwhelming.

3.) Journaling:. You can do this on the same board if you are using a whiteboard every night and you can also write it in a journal. But write what you did today to help achevie your goals. They can seem small but writing what you did to help achieve goals sets in habits. Also in days where you didn't feel like you did much doing small things adds up overtime. (Ex. For weight loss just not eating sweets or being more mindful of your eating can seem small but getting better at those things adds up over time)

4.) Repeat. Just waking up every morning and getting to work is part of the process. It's going to suck at first but making it a part of your routine in the morning (clearing the board) and at night (filling the board/journaling) makes it so you make better descions throughout the day.
