30M over 400 lbs and in a sheltet

30 year old male currently in the new york city shelter system. Recently had a physical done with one of the shelter doctors. I am currently 6 feet 2 inches and approximately 420 to 430 lbs (the scale stopped at 400 so he had to estimate the rest).

I was shocked at my weight. I knew i was obese and a big guy but i never would have thought i was in the 400's. Shelter food is crap. Pasta, Rice, bread, frozen fish sticks, frozen beef, juice and milk (carbs, carbs, carbs)

Currently unemployed but i do recieve $200 in food stamps each month. Can't afford a gym memebership.

After my physical i told myself i would try my best to lose 200 lbs in a year. I have no experience with exercising or losing weight. I was skinny as a kid and average weight for most of my teens and 20's. In 2010 i got into a car accident and banged my knee up pretty bad. Couldnt walk for almost a year. Gained a lot of weight just sitting around doing nothing with my life feeling sorry for myself.

I want to turn my health around. I am begging for any help or advice. Any pictures or details i will gladly share. Please help me reddit.
