For reference, this is how I used to eat, EVERY day (until four months ago): https://imgur.com/gallery/2T6TdFN
This is how my diet typically looks ever since I made the change this past July: https://imgur.com/gallery/EFcT02o
I gained 20 lbs from my typical weight since the pandemic. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but I am 5’1 apple shaped woman, and we all know how quickly weight can show on apple shapes. What finally got me to get off my ass and work out was coming out of a major surgery earlier this year. I broke my ankle in an accident and had to get pins and screws inserted into the bone to fix it. This was in March. In May I started physical therapy which was light exercise 3x a week. By June I saw that I was 130lbs, a brand new high. Of course I gained that weight. I changed nothing about my diet and hadn’t walked for two months.
I have always been able to stay between 105-125 ever since I was a teenager. I ate exactly like the first graph for my whole entire life because I didn’t know any better. My whole family is the same way and most are overweight or fat. So I had no one to tell me any better either. And since I was skinny compared to them. Everyone assumed I was healthy. Meanwhile I was eating a pint of ice cream every other day.
So after the surgery, I decided to make a change. And since it’s required for me to stay active for the sake of my now weakened leg anyway, I thought what the heck might as well lose 25 lbs while I’m at it. My ideal weight is 105lbs. So I started going to the gym 3-4x a week. I swapped fast food for homemade meals. Stopped baking confectionaries every week. Stopped buying cookies and cakes. Limited my calories to 1,200 per day.
At first it was hard. Really hard. Because my body was used to all of the extra macros, extra sugar, extra fat. But eventually I got used to it. I can fully say that now I feel comfortable with my diet. I don’t miss the extra snacks or sugar drinks. I lost 10lbs from July to October. But for the past few weeks ive stalled. I even slightly lowered calories on some days to see if it would speed up. Nothing. Usually when I’m at 120 my body doesn’t like to change. It’s annoying because at one point, I actually wanted to gain weight which is why I started eating those pints of ice cream but my body never moved past 120. Is my metabolism fucked or something? What gives?
