5'4" F, CW 145 GW 130. The number on the scale is less important to me than the way I look. I can tell that I am stronger (going up hills and stuff), but the layer of fat around my arms, thighs, and belly don't seem to be going anywhere, so I still look chunky.
I run 1-4x a week (sometimes I'm busy and run less, sometimes I'm working from home and run more) usually about 3 miles each time. I track my calories and try to stick to about 1200 calories a day, but I do eat more if I work out (so if I burn 300 calories, I will usually eat 300 calories more so the end of the day still equals 1200) Is this my problem?
I have been doing this about six months. I eat whole foods, but sometimes I have some chocolate, wine, or bread. But I always count these calories. I have noticed that I tend to have one week of eating over my calories (+500-800 usually), followed by two-three weeks of being under my 1200/day (8400 a week) calorie count.
Before 6 months ago, I was hiking 5 miles up hills 1-3x a week and calorie counting but that was making no difference at all, so I switched to running. I lost about 5 lbs at first, but I really thought that by 6 months in, I would see more progress in fat loss than I have.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking IF might be my next move. But its so frustrating to still be chunky in spite of all this.
