Muscles sore and VERY firm - is this normal?

I played Ring Fit Adventure for the first time yesterday, and it was pretty fun… I did the first squat of my life, followed by about fifty more, and a yoga position referred to as the chair pose, which is absolute evil! Good times! Honestly, the hardest part for me was the cool down stretches, but even that wasn’t too bad.

Today, my girlfriend and I spent about three hours exploring a local flea market, and then a couple hours later took our dogs on a 1.5 mile walk at a park. When we got home it wasn’t long before my quadriceps started to get sore, and lying in bed six-ish hours later, they kinda hurt when I tense or poke at them… but it immediately goes away when I stop. When I touch them, though, they are rock hard at all times.

Is this normal when someone inexperienced starts a new exercise routine? Did I overwork them doing squats and/or walking, and if so, what can I do to prevent this? Can I resume Ring Fit tomorrow, or does the amount of quad exercise it entails mean that I should hold off?
