How to help my cousin change?

40 year old man. DM2 diagnosed this year. BMI 42. High cholesterol and triglycerides. Family history of cancer and hypertension. Sedentary. Drinks ocasionally.

I should mention he dinners twice, once is in my house...

My other cousins and me are always saying he should go on a diet and exercise, but he never does it. He says that diets are like "starving", and althought he does exercise sometimes, he always stops doing it after 2 or 3 days.

How do I convince him to do it? I always hear that scaring those people with the truth is the best approach, but what do you think?
