How do I prevent overtraining when going to the gym 6 days a week, sometimes two times per day?

In the last 8 months I developed a huge drive to improve my physique. I started at 220lb and I'm done to 180 now. This was mostly fueled by a nasty break-up and terrible self-confidence.

Now, the first thing I do every morning is go to the gym. I do this 4-6 days per week. But sometimes I feel particularly shitty about myself and I decide to go to the gym in the middle of the day or at night. I follow a PPL program, and if I already worked out that day, I just do the next days session. All my lifts are performed with an RPE of at least 8 or 9.

Am I at risk for overtraining? I consume nearly a gram of protein per lb of bodyweight, and I get 6-8 hours of sleep every night. I'm also in a slight caloric deficit, as I want to get down to sub 15% body fat. I almost always feel a bit sore, but I really enjoy the feeling of sore muscles. Just based on my interoception, I do feel like I'm recovering enough.

But am I hindering my progress by using the gym as a coping mechanism for my shitty mood, and sometimes going to the gym twice a day?
