Does anybody else dread the "congratulations"?

I'm not close to anyone noticing any changes just yet, but when I was younger and fluctuating weight more often, family members and friends would say "you look slimmer! You're finally thinning out." And it would make me feel like garbage. There's something so scary about people confirming your fears that you're considered less-than when you're fat. I just want to erase the past me and magically be remembered as my goal weight. How did you overcome the feeling?
