DAE find it impossible to eat just a small portion of sweet treats?

When I give in and eat just a small portion, it's like my appetite and cravings grow so much and I become even hungrier (not really hungry, more like really really crave though. I acknowledge that what I'm feeling isn't really hunger.)

Other people recommend just having small portions to stave off cravings, but for me it just makes it worse. Even when it's healthy sugars like fruit, I find it hard to stop. It's like something lights in a switch in my brain to consume or something. It has to be all or nothing for my lizard brain.

I find it easier to remain on my diet when I don't partake on sweets at all, but I feel it really isn't sustainable. I also really love sweets, so I'm worried I'll lose motivation to lose weight and just cave when I ban it. And I feel like just banning sugar/sweets is kind of an unhealthy mindset. Has anyone else experienced this? What tips do you have?
