Any advice on losing sustainably and avoiding disordered eating?

CW/TW for mentions of eating disorders / binge eating.

I have been told by my therapist that I am very stuck in the binge / restrict cycle and in counting my calories and trying to lose weight in the last 6 months I’ve gained even more. I know my relationship with food is not healthy, but I also know I need to lose about 30-40lbs to even feel as mobile again. I no longer recognize myself from how this much binging has lead to fast and (what feels like) permanent weight gain.

Has anyone been able to lose the weight while also recovering from disordered eating habits or binge eating specifically? How long did it take you and do you have any tips? Feeling very hopeless but am looking for some motivation.

EDIT: spelling
