Salad to Help Satiation Cues?

Hello friends! A few months ago I visited a friend who has maintained a healthy weight for as long as I’ve known her (10+ years). At every breakfast and every dinner, we had a salad (fruit in the morning, greens in the evening). I’ve been trying to incorporate that habit in my daily life (in part because I love salad), but I’m wondering if this habit will help my satiation cues. From what I understand, there’s a bit of a time delay between being actually full and when our hormones communicate to our brains that we’re full. Hence, why so many people advise eating slowly and taking pauses. Does having a low-calorie salad before meals helps to prolong the eating experience, and help with feeling satiated before over-eating? I’d love to hear from folks who have this kind of habit and whether it’s worked for them!
