I’m just super happy. I(18F) went from obese to chubby, back to obese, back to chubby and now I’m a normal weight. For the first time ever. I started gaining a ton of weight when I was around eight years old- to the point where I was considered to be obese. As an eight year old! Nothing wrong with me medically, just a not-so-great diet. Then I started playing really intense sports and started to slim down. I was about 185 at 5’8/5’9 when I was twelve, still chubby but not too bad. Since I was tall I carried the weight pretty well. But then I stopped playing sports and started stress-eating, mostly massive insane portions of fried food.
And then junior year of HS happened. My school granted us off campus lunch. I had been working for a few summers and had more money than I knew what to do with- I was having a massive breakfast of eggs, bacon, oatmeal, toast, and orange juice, chick-fil-a nuggets, fries, and a large coke, and then something like pork chops, bread, sweet yams, etc etc for dinner every day. I ballooned.
A few months into the pandemic I hopped on the scale. I was something like 220 pounds. It was horrifying- I stuck my head under a pillow and pretended not to notice it for another few months. Then I stepped on the scale again- 225. I remember wishing so hard to be 185 again, even though when I had been 185 I had been so insanely upset looking at the scale.
So I got it together. I lost around twenty pounds in between my senior year and my first year of college, then lost 36 pounds my freshman year. I’m down to 168 now(and 5’10) now! I was probably ten when I weighed this much. It’s insane how differently people treat me- and how different I feel about myself. I don’t wear swim shirts to the beach. People don’t act like I’m invisible when I talk. I feel strong. It’s such a great feeling. I still have a ways to go, but this community has been super helpful throughout the entire journey :)
