At the beginning of this month I decided I wanted to take better care of myself. I’ve been eating whole, nutritious foods and listening to my body. I’ve maintained a calorie defecit and have still been enjoying foods I love like I used to. I make it a point to walk 10,000 steps a day. On my days off work I’ll spend 2-3 hours outside just walking and I even bring my dog with me. I’ve been a lot happier and mentally clearer since I started walking more. And I just learned that walking reduces cortisol levels, which makes sense as to why I’ve been happier. I get to enjoy the sunshine and get some fresh air. Today when I weighed myself I was 10 pounds lighter. It feels really good and motivating. I feel like I’ve found the formula for my success. I’ve found a physical activity that is easy for me to do everyday but most of all, enjoyable. I look forward to getting outside and moving instead of dreading the gym. I really feel like I have begun to change my lifestyle these past few weeks and because of that, I know I’m going to continue to make progress. Really proud of myself.
Find something that works for you and don’t compare yourself to others. If going to the gym everyday at 6am isn’t your jam—find what is!! Find something that actually makes you feel good and encourages you to move your body instead of holding yourself to this possibly unrealistic standard and then getting discouraged when you don’t get the results you’re looking for.
We all gotta start somewhere.
