This might sound weird or be an overly specific situation, but I am a male with wider hips looking for some workout tips. I think my ideal body shape that I am happy with is an abdomen, chest and shoulders that are also wider/broader that go with the hips. When I was skinnier I looked just...odd. So I wanted to bulk up a bit and put on weight in my upper body. I currently have weight there... and head on I look sort of how I want...it's just when I turn to the side that you realize that broad stomach is even wider front to back. So I was looking to "clean bulk" and incorporate some cardio to try to shed the belly fat and pack on weight in the chest, shoulders - and thighs/legs so I don't look like one of those 2 for 1 popsicles.
What is the best workout, approach to this? I will be doing this all at home. I have a treadmill, 20lb, 30lb and 40lb dumbbells - and was looking to get a barbell as well. I plan to go with a very high protein, low carb diet with some healthy fats. I know it really isn't possible to pack on muscle without high calories and some fat to go with it. Which is fine as long as I can move where that fat is - lose it in the belly, maybe transfer some to my flat ass. Who knows.
Any suggestions on calorie intake needs, workout plans, what mix of weight training vs. cardio, etc. would be much appreciated.
