I ate out with my family tonight at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered a veggie burrito and some chips and queso. I ate half of everything and then was not only full, but almost uncomfortably so. Now that I am eating 1400-1800 kcals/day and my stomach has adjusted, this was so.much.food.
Then I got to thinking that it's crazy how restaurants serve pretty much the same portions to everyone. There is so much variation in peoples' TDEEs. Why can't we order portions that align with our needs? (And I don't mean fast food "sizes"). I wasted so much food and it was really hard to throw it away.
Honestly the kids' menu will probably have the right portions for me at my goal weight. I just hate how much the rest of the world sets us up for failure.
Maybe I should switch to ordering an appetizer or side instead of a full meal. It would be a more reasonable portion at least.
