Finally getting into it

F/18, 5'1", 165lbs Wow, I'm a little (lotta) nervous about posting this. Throughout my high school years I slowly put on weight as hormones kicked in and I continued to make bad health choices. Then covid and my freshman year of college happened and I gained another 30lbs. I have sort of "dieted" on and off over the years but nothing serious or sustainable.

In my last month of freshman year I was in a relationship with a guy I didn't particularly like very much and my self esteem plummeted because of it. For the first time in a long time I looked in the mirror and was honest with myself. I wanted to lose weight and feel confident in my body again.

So it's been about a month now, and this is the longest I've ever kept something like this going. This sub has been so entirely helpful. Figured out a lot about calorie counting, defects and exercise.

Currently I'm aiming for about 1,200 cal/day and trying to make most of those calories from fruits and veggies (I've found that they make me happier and keep me fuller). Taking a vitamin as well, and a protein powder supplement on days when I can't be bothered to cook anything with real protein in it.

I guess what inspired me to finally post instead of indefinitely lurking is that I just finished my second session at the gym. I've never gone before in my life but I'm excited to think about how much leaner I'm going to get and how I might finally be able see some muscle on my body. It was the last push of confidence I needed to post something, is what I'm trying to say I guess.

Anyway I just wanted to make this post so that I might be able to come back and read it later down the line and be proud of how far I've come. And also for anyone out there who is thinking about starting a journey towards health and fitness: you can do it! It's going to be hard and there are going to be days where you mess up, but I hope that someday you'll get the confidence to make an intro post of your own. I will be looking out for it 😉.
