Can Hypothyroidism affect losing weight?

Female 26 Hispanics 4’11” 200lbs.

Hello!

So basically I finally got around to buying the right Fitbit for myself and started tracking my calories and exercising since last week.

However, last Wednesday I started having really bad heart palpitations after eating really bland chicken vegetables and rice meal and I felt like I was going to pass out if I stood up.

My face was going pale and I couldn’t speak without needing to breath.

So we went into the ER and after long hours with blood work, my thyroid is not producing enough hormone, but my blood itself looks normal.

I’ve been wondering why even eating less and exercising more, why it’s been really hard to lose weight.

Could being diagnosed with hypothyroidism be the reason why it feels like I’m not losing weight?

It’s been my second week of ending my day with an average of 600-700 calories left to consume basically.
