Still can't get lean after years of trying

3-4 years back I started my weigh loss journey. I was 18 and around 80-100 pounds over weight (I didn't start weighing myself regularly until I lost about 15 pounds). In about a year I was down to my initial goal weight of 180. I would describe myself as skinny fat. I had basically no muscular definition because I only did cardio and counted calories to lose it. I probably lost weight to fast (There were times that I was eating about 1200 which was definitely to low for someone my size) since then I've started lifting consistently and put on some muscle but I have never been able to get lean enough to look defined. I've been stuck in perpetual dad bod mod for the last 2 years bingeing and yo-yo dieting the entire time. Now at 22 I'm lost. I really want to lean out and be able to see some definition but I can't seem to lean out. I'm starting to give up hope. Do any of you have any advice?
