I am so discouraged

I started my journey on 27 December 2020 and I took up lessons with a personal trainer. I train with her once a week in the gym, mainly lifting weights and whenever I go myself, I try to do the same workout routine (start with cardio, weights, reps, etc.). I also walk 10K steps a day and every few weekends, I'll go walking or biking for 30K. I was counting my calories in an app and made better food choices (whole wheat bread, high fiber snacks, etc.). I'd say my average was 1300-1400 kcal a day.

According to the "book", I did everything right. My progress regardless was verrrrrryy slow. Every month, I'd maybe lose 0,2-0,5 kg. When I weighed with my trainer, I gained 2,3kg since last weigh-in. I must admit, I was cheating a little bit, so I wasn't too surprised when I saw I gained weight, but I was shocked by how much I gained. Even before I started my journey, I'd eat a shitload of unhealthy foods and I wouldn't even gain anything, maybe only 0,2kg.

My trainer said to up my calories a little, bcs my body might be in survival mode if I'm eating 1300-1400 kcal a day. So now, I'm eating 1500-1600 kcal a day.

I stepped on the scale this morning after last weeks weigh-in and I have gained another 0,8kg. Needless to say, I've been crying all morning.

What's happening here?!
