I will preface this by saying I’ve been advised by many not to start a calorie deficit while trying to breastfeed however I’m actively trying to wean, so if I stop producing that is a-ok with me!!
Now my question is: how do I track my calories lost from breastfeeding? I know when I was exclusively breastfeeding my doctor mentioned that at most it would be around 200-500 calories a day, so if I wanted to eat a bit more it would just be an additional 300 calories, and not more. On MyFitnessPal one minute of breastfeeding is clocked in at 16 calories burned.
My issue with this is that even if she is latched on for fifteen minutes I sincerely doubt she’s getting much at this point. So how do I know?? Right now she mostly does it for comfort but I know at night she gets a little extra because if she doesn’t feed overnight I wake up engorged (ouch). If anyone can help me figure this out I’d really appreciate it!!
