With a house full of different diets, I generally have to cook a lot to meet my family's needs. But in the process I've found it is a lot easier to diet when I cook my meals. When I buy take-out or processed foods, maybe it's the salts, or sugars, or preservatives, or portion sizes, but I always gain. When I cook my own meals, I just tend to eat less and eat better.
So my tip would be to try to cook your own foods. Even junk food like bread and pizza.
