12 month progress 5'9 205 -> 144

WARNING!! Side effects of learning from this post include everyone around you treating you better, looking at yourself in the mirror in awe for extended periods of time, and cute girls randomly appearing next to you out of nowhere.

That being said I wanted to share a few highlights/tips that helped me change from an unhealthy to a healthy lifestyle. First, if you didn't know, in the about section here there is an amazing guide that could explain how to lose weight better than I ever could, I highly suggest reading it.

Second, weight loss is a lifestyle change. It's not anything that 1 month of fasting is going to fix, you gotta build long term healthy diet and exercise habits. That may seem daunting, but giving in little concessions helps alot to maintain. For example let's say you think you should do 30 min of cardio everyday but you find out that you hate it after 10 mimutes. Well, just do ten minutes then, if that helps you stick with it over the long term thats miles better than doing 30 minutes for a few weeks. Same thing with diet, if your only able to change a little bit at a time that's fine as long as it's long term.

3rd learning is key, I didn't know much at first but after many months of learning I look at food different. Before I couldn't wait to get my hands on a whole pizza and 2litre soda to myself, now all I see 2000 extra calories, a sugar rush that's gunna turn my body into fat making mode and 2 days of being bloated. Any diet plan you make that puts you at a defecit will work; fasting, keto, cico, eating normally, anything. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is being in a calorie deficit.

I see tons of questions about how to get abs from guys, the one and only answer is lowering your overall bodyfat percentage and actually having abdominal muscles. Nothing can target that lower belly fat, just keep dieting and exercising and it will happen. Building muscle in all muscle groups in your body will help alot, it burns more resting calorie and tips your body fat percentage lower.

Just really quickly about carbs fats and protein, carbs are quick energy, fats are medium/long energy, protein is a little different it's more the building block and not used so much for energy. Carbs and fats are interchangeable in your body, their both strings of carbons that your body will re-arrange to fit it's needs. When you exercise you breathe out the excess carbons (this is how you physically lose weight), ie the harder you breathe the more weight you will lose. This is important to note because when burning calories it doesn't matter what you do, it only matters how hard you do it, measured by how hard you breathe - hope that made sense.

Lastly you need social support, thats my big downfall being a long haul trucker living out of my truck I don't have any social support except on here, which thank you by the way! Even that small bit helps a ton trust me.

Here's a before and after if your interested I made a post a few months ago going in more detail of my exact food plan and exercise strategies if you like.
