Question about protein.

Hello everyone,

I've been reading up research on nutrition recently and spent a great deal of time on websites and YouTube channels on fitness before. One thing which confused me is while most of the researcch is pointing towards 1g/kg of bodyweight, most fitness people recommend 1g/lb. Many scientific articles also recommend 1.2g - 1.5g/kg for athletes which is still less than the 1g/lb rule. For example, if I go by 1g/kg rule, I'll get 80g of protein, but with 1g/lb it goes to 180g.

My questions are: 1. Why do most scientific articles recommend lesser protein than fitness magazines or YouTubers? 2. Why do fitness people recommend a lot more protein despite scientific evidence otherwise?
