How are y’all not starving from counting calories?

I’m 28f, 5 foot 7 and 204 pounds. I just started counting calories about a month ago and dropped approximately probably about 5 pounds so far (my scale doesn’t seem accurate to me because it fluctuates so much). I’ve been trying to eat between 1,600-1,700 calories a day and almost everyday while I’m trying to go to sleep, my stomach hurts from the hunger. I calculated that with alcohol and eating out, I was probably eating somewhere between 3,000-3,500 calories a day before I started actually counting. For those of you also counting, how are you not famished at the end of the day? I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I really want this to work because I am huge and I feel awful looking at my pregnant looking belly the mirror. Help.
