Hey y'all. I am just posting to hold myself accountable honestly. This past week has been a nightmare and I have not stuck to my diet at all.
On Friday August 6th I finished packing up my stuff for a move across the country (US). This was a big task in and of itself to have finished. I was ready to pick up the U-Haul the next morning and have the movers I hired come help me load everything in the truck. Then I got a call from U-Haul, they didn't have the 15 foot truck (764 cu. ft.) I had reserved. They only had a 10 foot truck (402 cu. ft.) for me. Notice that it is 47% smaller or nearly half the size of the truck I had reserved. I found this out late in the evening and didn't have much time to do anything about it. The next day is when I went into panic mode. I had to decide what to sacrifice and repack. Initially I had emptied my drawers to make it easier for the movers but I had to unpack boxes and load them up to save on room. I made more donation piles and ended up leaving behind the bed for my roommate, my dining room set, book shelves, some outside furniture, and my mountain bike.
Ok so at this point I knew what I wanted to sacrifice, I had repacked and I was ready for the movers to show up. They didn't show. They didn't even call to say they weren't going to show. They didn't respond to any of my 10 voicemails from Friday or Saturday morning. Shit.
I started loading the U-Haul myself with my partner at around 1pm. It was 95 and sunny. We actually somehow managed to load everything just the two of us but it was brutal. We didn't get to sleep until midnight.
We woke up at 6 the next morning to start driving, we had a 1600 mile drive in the U-Haul ahead of us with our 2 dogs.
Just to summarize: the drive was miserable, what we could normally do in 2 long days took 3 long days. One of the dogs had an accident in her carrier but luckily we had an extra bed for her so we just switched it out.
On this end of the move, my new landlord said he was going to leave a key for me but didn't. I was locked out when the movers got there (which thankfully they showed up on this end!). He came half an hour later with the key. Luckily they still managed to get everything done in 1.5 hours even though I had to pay them for 2 hours. For some reason my electricity wasn't turned on until around 2pm and we had to unload when it was about 95 in the house.
I scrambled the next day to get another bed, dining room table, and book shelves off of craigslist before we had to return the U-Haul. I managed to get all of the furniture we needed without breaking the bank.
This was one of the most stressful experiences I have had in a long time and I completely dropped my diet and ate whatever I wanted for the last 8 days. By some miracle the scale didn't change?? I have been hovering between 220 and 222 this entire time. I am really grateful for that and I am not going to waste it! I am getting back to my diet starting tomorrow and I am done eating for tonight. Wish me luck!
I hope all of y'all are staying strong and getting back to it even if you get derailed from stressful events. We got this. <3
