How does sugar effect your hunger levels?

Whenever I’m trying to cut calories, I have a lot of trouble with hunger. One thing I saw someone say here recently was that eating sugar makes them really hungry for days and I’m wondering if it’s a big part of my problem with counting calories. I get all the food groups/enough protein, fat, water, etc and still feel ravenous a lot of the time. I’ve done troubleshooting on a variety of things, but I don’t know that I’ve ever tried drastically reducing sugar, I think I probably eat a more normal diet just smaller portions. Just curious to hear some others experience with sugar and hunger.
