Confusion and worry about weight loss?

Okay, so like everyone over covid... I uh, gained a few pounds.... 30 or so to be exact. I was working part time during the pandemic, and doing at home school (though, my work was on my feet) well, I've recently started at an at home office job, and as a result I've been uh... A little worried that I'm going to gain weight. So, I decided that I was gonna try and go on a diet and loose the weight back.

I did some research and some math, and at my size (5'0" 142lb, AFAB) to loose 1-2lb a week I should be eating somewhere in the range of 900-1000 calories? But I've also been reading that apparently eating 1000 calories a day is too little?? Is this true? I'm so confused?? Can I just not loose weight healthily or am I going to have tis tart working out like a maniac???
