Newbie

Hi everyone. I have a surgery coming up that I want to lose weight for. I have 99 days, and I have no idea where to start but I know if I don't start now it'll be too late. It's not absolutely essential that I do lose weight, but the results are likely to be better if I do.

I struggle with a lot of exercise because of an old injury. I broke my leg about 6 years ago and it didn't heal right (I used to smoke and I'm an alcoholic, not a great combination for healing), and now I'm on doctor's orders, no running, nothing that means an impact on my leg, which includes jumping etc. The only other thing that was recommended was swimming, but I'm a trans man (pre top surgery) and I wouldn't feel comfortable not wearing a binder since swim tops are so tight. It'd show everything.

I'm now 2 years 9 months sober and it's been 1.5 years months since I quit smoking. I want to make sure that I'm setting myself up right for my new life post-surgery, which I'm so excited for.

I just don't know where to start in getting ready for it. I can't find an exercise that I can do without injury or horrible dysphoria, and my diet is pretty bad atm. I'm good at dealing with big changes, but I don't know which ones to make. If anyone has any tips, exercise recommendations, or ways of holding myself accountable that'd be really appreciated!
