Bullying doesn’t help.

Hey everyone đź‘‹ little bit of rant.. I recently lost 80lbs and went from 240lbs to 160lbs. Biggest pet peeve that i’ve been seeing a lot more frequently is that “bullying encourages people to lose weight” NO. IT. DOES. NOT. i’m sure it’s probably encouraged some people for all the wrong reasons but even when it does work, bullying and body shaming can cause many more problems.

I was average weight for most of my life but gained a bunch of weight in highschool when my mom died. I was a very extroverted person and very sociable, but when I gained the extra weight people started bullying me because of it. In my grade 11 gym class i specifically remember girls fat shaming me in the change rooms but backing it up with “it’s words of encouragement.” The only thing the bullying accomplished was giving me depression and social anxiety. Eventually I lost the weight on my own terms for myself and my health, but I still suffer from social anxiety and body dysmorphia. Moral of the rant… no, bullying is not a form of encouragement.
