My trainer told me that you should eat the number of grams of protein equal to your goal weight. So, in my case 150g per day (current goal weight is 150 lbs). I've seen others recommend eating 1g/1lb so this doesn't seem too unresonable (but still might be a bit much).
Currently, according to MFP I usually eat between 60-80g of protein per day on average. I feel like this isn't enough regardless, especially since I've recently began strength training (hence my trainer).
However, I have no clue how I can possibly eat more protein without increasing my calories.
I do IF. I don't really purposely do this, I am just naturally not hungry until the afternoon and prefer to eat a larger dinner so I'm not hungry at night. I only eat twice a day, around noon and around 5-6 pm.
I typically eat the same things for my first meal everyday- oatmeal and greek yogurt. I'll eat these either separately or I'll make overnight oats and throw in some mix ins to change up the flavors like PB2, fruit, nuts, etc. It comes out to ~25g of protein. Occassionally I'll eat a protein bar (20g) but usually only if I forgot my lunch lol
Dinner varies a lot. However I eat chicken breasts or chicken thighs 2-5 nights a week. Tonight for example, I had 8.5 oz chicken thigh (okay I weighed it with the bone in so it's probably a little less) with bbq sauce, baked potato with dollop of plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream, and roasted broccoli. I was stuffed. I was so full I couldn't finish all of my broccoli.
MFP says my calories for today: 1,213. My protein for today: 110g.
Where am I supposed to get another 40g of protein? How can I possibly get another 40g, still stay in a 1200-1300 cal range and not be disgustingly full. I could start subing things out for more meat or protein but then its starting to feel like I'm only eating protein which doesn't seem balanced and it also hard to swallow. Literally. I have a hard time digesting it
