Why am I still hungry?

Hi all! This is my first post here but I've been creeping around for a month or two, but here goes!

I started making lifestyle changes about a month ago. Cut out things like chips and ice cream and - I'm so proud of this - I've officially gone 2 weeks without getting any type of take-out! (I did go out to eat with my mom once, but I'm considering that a cheat day?)

It's going well. I feel better, I am always tired but the exhaustion is actually fightable- I don't HAVE to nap after work. I'm experimenting with new recipes and learning to enjoy veggies and fruit.

So here comes my question...

My meals have shifted from microwave-ready meals, frozen burgers and fries, and fried foods to things like stir fry, stove/oven-cooked meat and veggies, with snacks like fruits and more veggies and occasionally a small bag of Whales (the only kind of snack I enjoy without feeling tempted to binge). I eat about as much as I used to in quantity, just making healthier choices, and I feel satisfied other than the fact my stomach feels...empty after I eat dinner.

I combat it by getting ready for the next day and going to bed, but there has been a night or two where it gets so aggravating I end up snacking just before bed. It isn't that I'm HUNGRY - my stomach isn't growling or anything. I just feel hollow, somehow. This isn't a problem when I eat junk, so... What is going on here? This is the reason past times I've tried to lose weight have failed and I'm determined not to let it happen again. Help, please!

Is it possible my body is just confused at my changes and is craving the old stuff? Will the pangs go away at some point? Or is there something that I'm missing? ...Am I just thirsty, maybe? I wish this could all be as simple as it sounds! TYIA!
